Dear chosen friends and family,
Today marks the day that we’re putting out a limited release version of gathr. We’ve chosen to limit it to about 50 of our close connections for two reasons:
- The pandemic rages on. It is still not safe to gather responsibly at-scale. Given that our entire raison d’etre is to make it easier to get together, we won’t be releasing en masse until post-quarantine. We’ve chosen to release the app to you because we trust you to gather responsibly with appropriate social distancing measures.
- This is still an early stage of our app and so you’ll be our very first beta users. We’ve also chosen to release it to you because we’re excited to hear what you personally think about the app we’ve been building for the past many months.
We got into this business to make the world a little less lonely, and we’re doing that by making it fundamentally easier to get together. We don’t have all the bells and whistles quite yet — the location, time, and who to invite recommendations or the superspeed event creation — but the foundational elements of the app are all in place.
Friending, event creation, GCal integration, and Circles to let you switch your event feed between different groups are all implemented. Everything else will be released in time for end of quarantine.
